I have been neglectful of my blog the last 2 weeks. I guess part of it was a disapointment that noone has joined to tell me their story or to just say hello, send words of encouragement etc….but I realized that this is not the reason I should be doing this. In the long run this journal may one day benefit other people in just knowing what to expect on their own journey.

So, the last couple of weeks have been sort of non-eventful. Carolyn had bronchitis so we missed a couple of treatments. The surprising thing was that I had triple the stress the last couple of weeks and I didn’t have a back slide. A little more trouble sleeping but I didn’t feel like I had been run over by a mack truck. It was so good to know that my treatment was holding up to pressure.

I did have a treatment yesterday and we did some acupuncture and the jmt and talked a lot about how I am feeling etc…Carolyn asked me what percentage i thought i was at in treatment and I told her 60%. I really feel that I am a little more than half way to my full recovery. I was very tired after my treatment yesterday and slept like a log last night. I feel pretty good this morning. I believe!!

Well,

It has been a little bit since I wrote. I have been super busy at home and with work. The good news is, I feel pretty good. I was unable to have a Dr’s appt. last week because of an emergency and I was concerned that maybe I would go backwards. I didn’t.

I noticed that with the summer rains I am more swollen but the pain that usually accompanies this is more than tolerable. This past weekend I went to an event with my husband and we walked quite a ways. 20 blocks or so there and back. The last time I walked that far I was dying before we even got to the location and then I was able to sit for a few hours and recover and then walk back which was excruciating. This outing I walked to the event with minimal discomfort. Then we walked around and I also had to stand for a while and I did okay. The standing did start to become a bit painful and uncomfortable but as soon as I started moving again I was okay. The walk back was fine as well. Don’t get me wrong, I needed to rest and my feet were tired when we got home but so different from the time before. I was elated. If anything, the Florida heat was more bothersome than walking. I never thought to be able to say that.

I see Carolyn and Judy tomorrow and can’t wait to tell them. I believe.

I am holding up well. Considering the amount of stress I have at work I am pleased with my progress. I have been having much more freedom of movement and have slept straight thru the night for a full week with only a couple of exceptions. The weather was very rainy, esp. Saturday and I did feel it. My hands swelled up a lot and they made things difficult. Despite this, I was able to work thru it and spent most of the weekend cleaning the house top to bottom. It felt so good to see things getting done and knowing I was doing it. I overdid it a little bit but I did take breaks here and there when I tired out. Overall I am extremely happy where I am at in my healing process. I believe

Well, I can definitely say that the stress of work can affect the body where RA is concerned. I was doing really well over the weekend with much freedom of movement and very little pain over the weekend. I saw Carolyn and Judy on Tuesday and we did the jmt treatment and talked more about diet and we added Calcium and Magnesium to my diet. I take 4 teaspoons of each before bedtime. They said it should help with muscle cramping, etc…while sleeping.

Wednesday I was so busy at work I didn’t even have time to breathe let alone write in my blog, same today but i just had to make some time. Anyway, I overdid it a little yesterday and woke up tired and achy today; but when i think about it, considering the pain I was in in the past this is nothing. It really is just from overworking myself. That is very exciting to me. That was 5 days of huge improvement in a row. I believe!!

Well, I have been very, very busy today but need to take a minute to say that I am feeling pretty good. That doesn’t mean all my pain is gone but I am finding that there is a huge chunk of my day, basically between about 10 and 6 where I am really starting to feel good. 3 days in a row. No pain. Weakness and my hands are still swollen etc….but the actual pain is almost non-existent. The pain is still there in the morning and eve. as an achiness and I get very tired; but as far as I am concerned this is fantastic!! I have also slept through every night since Friday. I saw Carolyn and Judy on Friday and we did some jmt treatment and a lot of talk about diet and it is real important to add those fruits and vegetables, less beef, less sugar and lots of water. So, I am keeping a food journal so we can see what my food intake is like and see if I need to supplement any vitamins to make sure that I am getting all the nutrients I need. It is important that the body be functioning at its optimum so we can kick this pathogen out.

I am just thrilled!! I believe

I have been very achy the last couple of days though finally I am sleeping through the night. The last 2 nights actually. I have been exhausted so I am not too surprised. The hardest thing is to get up in the morning and get to work. I dragged out the process till the last possible minute the last couple of days. The important thing is that I did get out of bed and I did go to work. I find that in order to get through the day I just keep thinking about what it will be like in a few months and how simple things like filing, typing etc….will be so easy. I can’t wait. I also try to let everyone know how treatment is going and what I am doing day to day. My work is being very flexible and supportive with my Dr.’s appts. which helps tremendously.

I am finding that I have a lot of achiness and pain in areas other than the joints. Carolyn and Judy have explained to me that even though everyone thinks of arthritis as a joint disease that it destroys muscle tissue, ligaments, tendons, etc…Basically, I will have a lot of strengthening to do once my pain and inflammation is at a reasonable level. I hate the weakness I have been encountering even just trying to do simple things. At least I know I can rebuild that muscle once it is safe to do so without hurting myself. My big problem is I feel good, get excited and then workout and end up hurting myself. So now I have to take it slow and steady.

I saw Carolyn and Judy yesterday for treatment and we did a lot of talking about attitude and I expressed concern about how current stresses other than the arithritis might affect my treatment and she said “only if you let it “. So, positive thinking and continuing to see myself as the person I want to be are very important. We did some muscle therapy and I felt some nice relief in the shoulder areas and a little in the hands.

Sleep has been an issue the last couple of nights. I slept all night on Sunday after I had my treatment with Carolyn and Judy, but Monday night I was up at about 2:15 and then drifted in and out for a few hours. I got up around 5:15 and took some medicine and then slept hard until 7:30 and of course didn’t want to get up. The same last night. Woke up about 2:15 again and just drifted in and out until it was time to get up. Needless to say I am exhausted today.

Today is achy, achy, achy. I feel like I have no strength in my arms. It is embarrassing. Lifting a file up is too heavy. I believe that it being my time of the month is probably the reason it feels worse than usual. I think I actually started treatment a week or so after my last cycle. So, now I know what to expect. I just keep imagining myself singing and dancing with a completely flexible body. I believe :)

I have been very lucky to get several supporting emails from old friends and new friends letting me know they were thinking of me and wishing me the best. It means the world to me. Please make comments or send quotes, they make my day.

This Rheumatoid is an interesting little bugger. It changes on me constantly, sometime from hour to hour. One minute you think you can’t walk and then an hour later you are walking around without a care. Strange.

This past weekend was interesting. On Friday, my knee was swollen to where it was hard to walk on it. I still did, but was terrified that I would somehow damage it. Then on Saturday the swelling had gone down and though I was being careful with it it seemed to be fine. In fact, I was pretty comfortable though sleepy. Sunday I was achy in my hands and shoulders but my knee was okay.

Carolyn and Judy saw me on Sunday afternoon, which was mother’s day. They are amazing. We did some acupuncture which i found fascinating. They even stuck a needle in my skull. That sounds bad. They gently placed a needle and I barely felt it. I had needles in my arms and legs and wrist and feet and one in my belly. None of the needles hurt but i did feel a little achy in my arm as the energy worked its way up. I could feel energy going down my leg as well. It was really fascinating. We also did some muscle therapy afterwards and they gave me more medicine to help with swelling. We talked a lot about keeping a healthy attitude and believing that I would be whole again. It is so important to visualize yourself as healthy and doing the things you love. I was pretty sleepy after the treatment and spent the afternoon doing small things like shopping etc…

My husband has been great about not getting on me about the house and garden and all the things I know I have fallen behind on. I try to do as much as I can when I get those spurts of energy so it doesn’t get too bad. Don’t get me wrong, there are times he gets frustrated and angry and the only thing one can do is keep going and and acknowledge that this thing doesn’t just hurt you but also the ones you love. That is why it is so important to me to get well and whole again. I have so many things i want to accomplish not only for myself but for the ones I love. I believe
